Well, I can't say I'm that good at blogging. Then again, I've never tried it before, so that point is kinda moot. So let's start at the beginning, then.
Anyway, what to say... Well, I'm a Magic: The Gathering player (hence, the blog). I've been playing for 4 years or so (since 8th edition was printed), and definitely had my share of fun since then. I'm your typical geek: glasses, excessive knowledge of computers, random hobbies, the works. But I pride myself in that. I know I'm superior to 90% of the country's population, who are mostly a bunch of stereotyping, unintelligent jerks who listen to rap, wear jeans 8 inches below their waist, and act like "gangstas." But I digress...
I can certainly say I've improved a lot in the time I've played Magic, although it really depends on your definition of improved. Back in the days of Kamigawa/9th/Ravnica, I consistently went 3-1 at most of my local FNMs. Even when TimeSpiral rotated in, I did pretty well in tournaments. And the 10th limited events, I dominated those.
But Lorwyn block... sheesh, I really do not know how to make a deck for it.
At this point I should really mention that I'm a Johnny. I love, absolutely LOVE interactions. A card with storm? I'll break it. Seven card combos that win instantly and with ridiculously devastating effects? I'll build a deck around them.
But apparently those sorts of decks don't win tournaments very often in the current standard.
Who knew?
Let's see, my most recent tournament, an FNM last Friday, I was playing Pan's Labyrinth. It's a B/W deck focused around Cairn Wanderer. Yes, that's right, Cairn Wanderer.
I went 1-3 with a bye.
Of course, I couldn't get the whole deck together, and had to omit a few things, which definitely contributed to the overall loss of most of my games. And most of the matches were a VERY close 2-1. But that just doesn't cut it, unfortunately.
Although nothing is more fun than EOT terror on a lightning angel (I was playing against RWU beats) followed up by a cairn wanderer to beat face for 8, off the random double-striker in my yard.
Oh, damn, it's late. I need sleep... school tomorrow, as usual.
